Ferrari 458 Italia Buyer’s Report
Model years: MY2010–2015 (US). Prices as of October 16, 2026.
Verdict
458 Italia: open at $▇▇▇,▇▇▇ target $▇▇▇,▇▇▇ walk away above $▇▇▇,▇▇▇ (35 US sales in 24 months). Mileage splits this market. Of the eleven sold Jul 21–Oct 15, the four with 1,200–4,300 mi brought $▇▇▇,▇▇▇ the 9,000-mile car $▇▇▇,▇▇▇ and the six with 19,000–40,000 mi $▇▇▇,▇▇▇. The target is the median of that mix, so price a car by its miles (see the mileage table).
458 Spider: open at $▇▇▇,▇▇▇ target $▇▇▇,▇▇▇ walk away above $▇▇▇,▇▇▇ (33 US sales in 24 months). The first ten 2026 Spider sales ran $▇▇▇,▇▇▇; the six sold Jul 29–Sept 23, each checked as a stock US car, ran $▇▇▇,▇▇▇ at 4,400–20,000 mi. That jump is why the target sits above the $▇▇▇,▇▇▇ median for the year: expect to pay near the target now.
458 Speciale: open at $▇▇▇,▇▇▇ target $▇▇▇,▇▇▇ walk away above $▇▇▇,▇▇▇ (9 US sales in 24 months). Two 2026 Speciales sold at $▇▇▇,▇▇▇ and $▇▇▇,▇▇▇; the 1,332-mile car brought $▇▇▇,▇▇▇ and the 11,000-mile car $▇▇▇,▇▇▇. Expect about the target for a 2,000–10,000-mile car with clean history.
Not priced: 458 Speciale A (2 sales). Their recent sales are listed in each version's section.
Ask for the recall printout (crankshaft recall 12V211000 on MY2011–2012) and a carbon-ceramic brake wear reading before you agree a price.

Warranty by model year
🔒 Sourced repair, service and part prices are in the full Buyer's Report.
- MY2010–2011: about 15–17 years old in 2026, at or past the end of Ferrari Power (years 9–16). Check the first-registration date: a car past year 16 can't get Ferrari factory cover at all.
- MY2012–2015: inside the Ferrari Power window (years 9–16) for now, renewable a year at a time, after a Ferrari dealer eligibility inspection (service history, no serious accident, tampering, track or commercial use; the car must 'not exceed a mileage of 75,000 miles').
- 7-Year Genuine Maintenance: runs seven years from the new-car warranty start date and passes to later owners only within those seven years, so it has expired on every 458 Italia.
Ferrari Approved (certified pre-owned)
- Ferrari Approved (factory certified pre-owned): Ferrari warranty of 24 months minimum, unlimited mileage, covering parts and labor for defects; repairs by Ferrari technicians with original parts; 24 months roadside assistance in the US.
- Ferrari Approved eligibility: Ferraris registered within the last 14 years. Ferrari states no mileage limit (KBB: 'Ferrari doesn't specify a mileage limit').
- Ferrari Approved inspection: 100+ checks (Ferrari's US page says 'no less than 100'; its program PDF says 101), done by factory-trained technicians (running gear, electrics, fluids, suspension, brakes, cooling, steering, A/C, instruments, safety systems, lights, wheels and tires), ending with a test drive; a written list of checks and repairs goes in the glove box; independent title check for mileage, ownership and liens where available.
- Ferrari Approved exclusions: tires, brake pads and discs, and any part replaced because of normal wear.
- For the 458 (2010–2015): a car first registered more than 14 years ago, which today means roughly 2012 and earlier, is outside the Ferrari Approved age limit.
Known problems and recalls
- NHTSA recalls by version and model year (rechecked on NHTSA October 15, 2026): 10V389000: 458 Italia, MY2010; 12V211000: 458 Italia, MY2011–2012; 14V487000: 458 Italia and 458 Spider (MY2010–2014 across them); 15V433000: 458 Italia, 458 Spider, 458 Speciale and 458 Speciale A (MY2015 across them); 16V341000: 458 Italia, MY2010–2011; 18V040000: 458 Italia and 458 Spider (MY2013 across them); 18V188000: 458 Italia, MY2010–2011; 18V381000: 458 Italia and 458 Spider (MY2012 across them); 19V006000: 458 Italia MY2014–2015, 458 Speciale MY2014–2015, 458 Speciale A MY2015, 458 Spider MY2014–2015; 19V411000: 458 Speciale A, MY2015; 20V007000: 458 Italia, MY2010–2011; 21V833000: 458 Italia MY2010–2015, 458 Speciale MY2014–2015, 458 Speciale A MY2015, 458 Spider MY2012–2015. Ask for a Ferrari dealer printout showing each one done.
- The 458 uses timing chains, not a cam belt: the Ferrari dealer parts catalog lists chains (175286, 193616, 253294) and hydraulic tensioners (197880) under Timing System.
- DCT gearbox speed sensor: Ferrari North America’s technical bulletin TI-2399 for the 458 Italia, Spider, Speciale and Speciale A names speed-sensor replacement as a Level 3 gearbox procedure for authorized dealers, and J. Scuderia (US Ferrari specialist) sells a 458 DCT speed-sensor kit (part 710004182) that is fitted with the gearbox removed. Ask for gearbox work in the records.
Pre-purchase inspection checklist
🔒 Each item has what to check, what it costs to fix and what to ask the seller. It's in the full Buyer's Report.
- Ferrari dealer recall printout for the VIN; confirm every campaign above is closed (check NHTSA's recall lookup too).
- MY2011–2012: proof the crankshaft recall 12V211000 repair or engine replacement was done.
- Ferrari Power eligibility: service records by year and a dealer eligibility inspection before you buy (MY2012–2015).
- 458 Speciale A: proof recall 19V411000 (air bag ECU) was done.
- 458 Spider: with the car parked and the engine cover shut, lower and raise the roof fully; it should finish both ways with no roof warning. Check for hydraulic fluid around the mechanism.
- Speciale: ask in writing whether the car has done track days or competitions, and get a Ferrari dealer Ferrari Power eligibility inspection (track activity rules a car out).
- Speciale: on a lift, check the underbody, the horizontal underbody flap, the front and rear active flaps and the diffuser for damage.
Use this to negotiate
- Open recall: fixed free at a Ferrari dealer, so it isn't a reason to pay more or less; make the seller book it.
- Missing service records: the car may fail the Ferrari Power inspection, so it has no factory warranty route. Price it that way.
- Worn carbon-ceramic brakes: genuine rear discs are $▇▇▇,▇▇▇ each and the pad sets $▇▇▇,▇▇▇ (front) and $▇▇▇,▇▇▇ (rear), about $▇▇▇,▇▇▇ before front discs and labor. Get a written quote before you agree a price.
Questions to ask the seller, with what to listen for
🔒 Each item has what to check, what it costs to fix and what to ask the seller. It's in the full Buyer's Report.
- On a MY2011–2012 car: can I see proof the crankshaft recall 12V211000 was done?
Good answer: A Ferrari dealer printout or invoice showing the repair or an engine replacement.
Red flag: No paperwork, or "it never needed it." - Is the car still eligible for Ferrari Power (MY2012–2015)?
Good answer: Service records for every year and a recent Ferrari dealer eligibility inspection.
Red flag: Service gaps, a serious accident, track or commercial use, or more miles than Ferrari's US limit (the car must 'not exceed a mileage of 75,000 miles'); any of these rules a car out. - Speciale or Speciale A: has it done track days or competitions? Will you put that in writing?
Good answer: A written no, backed by a dealer Ferrari Power eligibility inspection.
Red flag: Refusal to put it in writing. - Spider: has the roof ever shown a warning or been repaired?
Good answer: It lowers and raises fully with no roof warning, with no hydraulic fluid around the mechanism.
Red flag: A roof warning or fluid around the mechanism.
Checking accident history
Of the 175 comparable US sales since 2020 behind this report's prices (458 Italia: 72; 458 Spider: 73; 458 Speciale: 22; 458 Speciale A: 8), 0 disclose an accident, 10 have a clean history report and 165 don't state either.
- Title and history: run an NMVTIS report (title brands, total-loss and salvage history; it can miss repairs never reported to an insurer), NICB VINCheck (free; theft and salvage reports) and a Carfax or AutoCheck report. A clean title is not the same as no accidents.
- Inspection: an independent pre-purchase inspection. If the history suggests a repair, ask a Ferrari-certified body shop to check the aluminum chassis against Ferrari's diagrams and factory tolerances.
- Dealer history: ask a Ferrari dealer for the car's service records by VIN and whether it has ever failed a Ferrari Power warranty eligibility inspection, which checks that the car has not 'been involved in serious accidents'.
Production numbers
- 458 Speciale A: 499 cars, a limited edition per Ferrari’s own 458 Speciale A page.

Our targets follow the last 24 months of US sales, which ran higher in 2026, so use as a cross-check, not as a price. Its Speciale A figure ($▇▇▇,▇▇▇) has no target here to compare with.
Buyer checklist
🔒 Each item has what to check, what it costs to fix and what to ask the seller. It's in the full Buyer's Report.
- 1. Factory service schedule: Ferrari North America bulletin FNA 135 (May 2016) sets annual or 12,500-mile services for cars in Ferrari's 7-Year Genuine Maintenance program, which in the US came with new 458s from the 2012 model year on; that program has now expired on every 458 (see the warranty section). J. Scuderia's own 458 menu (five-year service from $▇▇▇,▇▇▇ coupe) is the shop's structure, not Ferrari's.
- 2. Known problems by version/year, mileage and fix cost: See the known-problems section: timing chains, no cam belt (Ferrari dealer parts catalog).
- 3. NHTSA recalls, TSBs, complaint patterns: NHTSA recalls by version (checked October 14, 2026): 458 Italia 10V389000, 12V211000, 14V487000, 16V341000, 18V188000, 20V007000, 18V381000, 18V040000, 19V006000, 21V833000, 15V433000; 458 Spider 14V487000, 18V381000, 18V040000, 19V006000, 21V833000, 15V433000; 458 Speciale 19V006000, 21V833000, 15V433000; 458 Speciale A 19V006000, 19V411000, 21V833000, 15V433000.
